Barnie is a two year old Spanish Mastin, and is a beautiful big boy

Barnie was originally bought as a puppy by his owners living in Spain. They moved to the UK last year along with Barnie, but sadly they are unable to continue caring for him due to ill health.

He is happy, fun-loving and very outgoing. He is happy to meet everyone and he loves affection. He is a big, loveable goof, always making people laugh and you can’t help but fall in love with his dopey expressions. He has a heart of gold and is so full of character.

Barnie can be a little puppyish and will benefit from some training. He has had work with basic commands and is improving greatly. Due to his size he is best with walks little and often, or would love a good sized garden he can plod about in. Barnie gets a little excited when on a walk, however after a couple of minutes he is very well behaved on the lead and will generally walk along side you. Barnie has had a tough couple of months, where he has been passed round and he deserves a home where his new family can dedicate some time to reassuring him, giving him lots of cuddles and kisses and continuing with his training.

Barnie loves other dogs, and loves to play so he would be able to live with another dog. Barnie does get very excited and can bark at other dogs when meeting them on a lead but he just needs a little patience and more interaction with new dogs.

Barnie is a seriously awesome dog! He is improving with his excitement and basic training every day, and has grown up a lot since he arrived. He is so loving and affectionate, he lives for cuddles, playing fetch and hotdogs. He will make someone a wonderful, handsome and loyal pet, and he is desperate to find a family to cuddle up to and love him. Barnie has been waiting for his forever home now for nearly a year, it is so sad to see such a big dog in kennels, he has so much love to give and such a great personality, we just cannot understand why this lovely boy keeps getting forgotten.

Although Barnie is very sweet natured and loving we think he’d best be suited to a family with no young children, simply due to his size and exuberance. He just would love a home where he can get the attention he deserves and be adored, he will give you so much back.

Barnie recently had to have an operation on his knee as he had a luxating patella (a dislocated knee), which has now been sorted and he is doing great, his leg is much better. There is no reason why he should have any future medical issues because of it. He is full of life and loves running and playing!

Barnie is in kennels in Derbyshire. If you feel you can give Barnie his forever home please do fill out our pre-adoption form here: http://sos-animals.org.uk/adoption/
