Heidi came to SOS after being dumped with her sisters Lucky and Chelsea outside boarding kennels as a very young puppy. Sadly she has suffered terribly by being at the shelter for almost a year, and has become quite nervous about the outside world. She gets very excited when someone goes to see her and can be a little boisterous at first, but she soon settles down, although she finds it hard to contain her excitement and is desperate for some attention.
Sadly, when Heidi goes outside of the only home she has ever known she does tend to get very worried and panics when she meets other dogs. She doesn’t show any aggression towards them but simply hides behind your legs and puts her tail firmly between her legs. Heidi would need to go to a home where someone would feel confident enough to help her overcome her anxieties and help her gain in confidence.
She would benefit from a home with another calm dog as a role model, but probably not with cats or tiny dogs. She would suit an active family who could give her lots of exercise and take her training, and hopefully be able to teach her about the world. She is such a sweet little girl who is desperate for love.
